The Little Red Hen

The story in this blurb from the late President Ronald Reagan (The Little Red Hen) perfectly illustrates what socialism does to productivity and incentive. Listen to it. It makes sense. Common sense. I had my own experience with this back in the summer of 96 when I worked as a crew leader for Oetting’s Detasseling Co. (a rouging crew). I made a lot of money for a college kid in 48 days. And I worked hard for it. The majority of it came in a bonus check at the end of the summer. Net pay on the bonus check was severely less than the gross amt–about 35% less to be exact. I got some back in the Spring. But the rest must have gone to help those that did not work for it. Made me rethink such work in the future.
