Confess Him Before the Gentiles

The following bit from the Book of Tobit struck me today as a wonderful way of expressing the Christian’s role in the mission of the Church:

Confess him before the Gentiles, ye children of Israel: for he hath scattered us among them. There declare his greatness, and extol him before all the living: For he is our Lord, and he is the God our Father forever…In the land of my captivity do I praise him, and declare his might and majesty to a sinful nation. (13:1-7)

What a simple, straightforward way of putting something that is so often expressed as if it is the eleventh commandment.
